Mumbai Indians Secure Win Against Sunrisers Hyderabad

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], April 18: After a standout performance in the IPL 2025 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Mumbai Indians (MI) all-rounder Will Jacks expressed his confidence in contributing to the team's success.

Jacks took two vital wickets (2/14 in 3 overs) and scored a brisk 36 runs, leading MI to a four-wicket victory over SRH at Wankhede Stadium on Thursday.

"I’m really pleased with my performance. I anticipated playing a significant role with the ball, especially since they had three left-handers in their top order. We expected some assistance from the pitch," Jacks mentioned during the post-match press conference.

He added, "I would have liked to contribute more in previous matches, but the team's message has remained consistent throughout."

In the match, MI won the toss and chose to field first. Abhishek Sharma (40 runs off 28 balls, including seven fours) and Head (28 runs off 29 balls, with three fours) formed a 59-run partnership. However, SRH struggled to maintain a high run rate, despite Heinrich Klaasen's efforts (37 runs off 28 balls, with three fours and two sixes).

SRH ended their innings at 162/5 in 20 overs, with Will Jacks (2/14) and Jasprit Bumrah (1/21) being the standout bowlers for MI, led by Hardik Pandya.

During the chase, MI's top order made significant contributions, with Rohit Sharma (26 runs off 16 balls, hitting three sixes) and Ryan Rickelton (31 runs off 23 balls, with five fours) helping MI reach 69/2 before their dismissals. A crucial 52-run partnership between Will Jacks (36 runs off 26 balls, with three fours and two sixes) and Suryakumar Yadav (26 runs off 15 balls, with two fours and two sixes) brought MI close to victory, although SRH bowlers fought back. Tilak Varma (21* runs off 17 balls, with a four) and Mitchell Santner (0*) secured the win for MI with 11 balls to spare.

For SRH, skipper Pat Cummins (3/26) and Eshan Malinga (2/36) delivered commendable performances, but it wasn't enough to clinch the win.

With this victory, MI has climbed to the seventh position in the standings with three wins and four losses, while SRH remains at ninth with two wins and five losses.
